中国作为世界四大文明古国之一，拥有五千年的辉煌文化。黄河，这条孕育中华文明的母亲河，滋养了无数智慧与勇气并存的中华儿女。他们用卓越的智慧和不屈的意志，书写了一部部流芳百世的历史篇章。寻根问祖，既是中华文化的重要内核，也是薪火相传的精神纽带。
澳大利亚的原住民同样拥有世界上最古老的文化之一。在这片土地上，他们世代相传的文化已经延续了数千年。早在1788年欧洲殖民者到来之前，澳大利亚就有超过250种语言和方言。然而，随着岁月流转，许多语言渐渐消失，但原住民的文化遗产依然通过讲述和传承，留存在历史的长河中。
1850年，维多利亚州发现了金矿，掀起了全球性的淘金热。这场浪潮吸引了来自世界各地的淘金者，许多人怀抱改变命运的梦想涌向澳大利亚矿区。作为澳大利亚移民史的重要篇章，华人从19世纪淘金热开始便登陆这片土地。他们怀揣勤劳、智慧与坚韧，在这片充满机遇的土地上书写属于自己的历史。
“哪里有华人，哪里就有历史。”
在各界人士的共同努力下，并在悉尼市政府的大力支持下，澳大利亚华人历史博物馆即将隆重揭幕。这座博物馆将全面展现两百年来华人在澳大利亚的迁徙与奋斗历程。华人通过聪明才智和持之以恒的努力，创造财富，赢得第一桶金；他们学习澳洲建筑风格和商业管理经验，将其带回祖国，在上海创立了中国第一家百货公司。他们还全力支持孙中山先生领导的辛亥革命，助力中国成为亚洲第一个共和国，为中华民族的崛起贡献了力量。
澳大利亚华人历史博物馆的建立，是一场备受期待的文化盛事，具有深远的历史和象征意义。目前，博物馆正在积极筹款，计划建设一座符合21世纪标准的现代化展馆。在此，我诚挚邀请全球工商业界人士、建筑设计师以及各界人士鼎力支持，为博物馆的建设添砖加瓦。您的慷慨捐赠不仅会被载入史册，更将在未来为后代所传颂。

China, one of the world’s four ancient civilizations, boasts a cultural heritage of over 5,000 years. The Yellow River, regarded as the mother river, nurtured generations of outstanding Chinese descendants who, with their wisdom and courage, shaped the course of history. Tracing one’s roots is a fundamental aspect of Chinese civilization and a vital conduit for the transmission of cultural values across generations.
Australia’s Indigenous people hold one of the world’s oldest surviving cultures. They have lived on this land for tens of thousands of years. Before European colonization began in 1788, this land—now known as Australia—was home to over 250 language groups. While many of these languages have been lost to history, Indigenous cultural heritage continues to thrive through oral traditions passed down over generations.
In 1850, the discovery of gold in Victoria sparked a global gold rush. Fortune seekers from all over the world flocked to Australia’s goldfields, hoping to change their destinies. Chinese immigrants became a significant part of this story, arriving in Australia during the gold rush and continuing to make their mark through subsequent generations. With diligence, ingenuity, and resilience, they pursued their dreams and crafted their own chapters in Australian history.
Where there are Chinese people, there is history.
Thanks to the collective efforts of various stakeholders and support from the Sydney City Council, the Australian Chinese History Museum is set to open its doors. This museum will showcase two centuries of Chinese migration and contributions to Australia. Through perseverance and wisdom, Chinese Australians created wealth, earned their first successes, and introduced Australian architectural styles and business practices back to China. They established China’s first department store in Shanghai and supported Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Xinhai Revolution, helping to establish China as Asia’s first republic and paving the way for its emergence as a global power.
The establishment of the Australian Chinese History Museum is a long-anticipated milestone with profound symbolic significance. Currently, the museum is actively fundraising to build a modern exhibition hall that meets 21st-century standards. Here, I warmly invite business leaders, architects, and supporters worldwide to contribute to this endeavor. Your generous donations will not only be etched in the museum’s history but also celebrated for generations to come.
The museum will not only preserve history but also serve as a bridge connecting China and Australia, as well as the past and the future. We hope to host calligraphy and painting auctions to rally community spirit and engage collectors. Through these efforts, we aim to inspire future generations to draw strength and wisdom from their forebears, continuing to write even greater chapters of success for Chinese Australians in a multicultural society.
